The Art of Editing Animation
The film editor plays a central role in the creation of great animated films in all styles, genres, and lengths. Yet the contribution of the editor is often overlooked or misunderstood. This master class will review the surprising ways editors shape animation, many of which would be impossible in live action film. Based on his experience starting the Editorial & Post Production department at Pixar, and producing animation today in Paris, Bill Kinder will demonstrate the impact of editors on story, character, cinematography, and sound using never-before-seen examples from works in progress of celebrated films. At the conclusion of the class, anyone approaching an animated film will have learned to think like an editor.
