Siblings Max és Emil Skladanowsky joined the Lumière brothers in the race to invent cinema. They held a public screening in the ballroom of the Berlin Wintergarten using their invention, called the Bioscop, a few weeks before the French pair. Although ultimately the world does not associate their names with the birth of film, they still represent an important part of the story. Wenders’ heartwarming, joyous film brings to life these two brothers. It was shot with students of the film school in Munich, to a large extent using an original silent film camera dating from the 1920s.
