Budapest, Vienna, Hollywood / Masters of the Big Screen
Two jobless musicians down on their luck urgently seek work in Chicago during Prohibition. Unfortunately, the only opportunity is two vacant places in an all-female band. However, Joe and Jerry rethink the offer once they accidentally witness a mob killing. Suddenly, the idea of going in disguise as women does not seem so crazy. They apply to the band, which is on its way to California, as ‘Josephine’ and ‘Daphne’. All well and good, except that the band’s blonde bombshell singer sometimes makes them forget what role they are supposed to be playing. Billy Wilder’s wild comedy stars Hungarian Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe.
