Harun Farocki and Andrei Ujica’s film is composed from footage of the 1989 Romanian revolution that involved selecting from more than 125 hours of TV and amateur recordings. Shots of the protesters are mixed with edited news reports and images from the television station occupied by the demonstrators. The impactful, raw aesthetic documentary not only registers historical events and the revolutionary dynamic, but also that particular media history period which was about the elemental, sometimes game-changing power of television.
