This film which is a winner of 13 Goyas, including best film, which sets the action during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), when a group of comedians (Carmen Maura, Andrés Pajares and Gabino Diego) liven up life in the city with their performances infront of the republican soldiers Tired of going through hardships, they decide to head to Valencia, but due to the darkness of the roads and the confusing front, they end up by mistake n the rebel zone, where they are taken prisoners. They can only be saved by putting on a show for a group of soldiers, which now clashes squarely with the ideology of the comedians.
