New residents move into a recently inaugurated, modern apartment block: the delicately cranky Birkáses, the fizzing Farsangs, Mr. Albert, the off-the-books barber and his entitled wife, the Korbusz couple moving in with the mother, and the timid Siposes. Their everyday occurrences bring new excitement into the house and gradually the individual stories of the residents begin to entwine. János Herskó distils a cross-section of contemporary society into the imaginative core plot as he approaches each of his characters with the same degree of sympathy.
