Kaunas, summer 1972. Rock music has been banned in the Soviet Union but Lithuanian teenagers listen to the Rolling Stones in secret, go crazy over hippy culture and organize their very own Woodstock festival. It is just that the Soviet Union is not America, the KGB leap into action and try to break up this tight-knit group of friends. It is in itself a gripping story about teens’ yearning for freedom and love, in the background of which one can discern the true historical events of the ‘Kaunas spring’ raucous with the noise of demonstrations. The first film of independent Lithuania that was screened in the Panorama section at Berlinale.
