Tales of India

The successful, wealthy and adored film star Arindam Mukherjee travels to Delhi to collect a prestigious state award. On the train he bumps into Aditi Sengupta, editor of a magazine, who wants an interview but not the usual stuff every other newspaper writes about the great star. Initially the actor is against the idea, but slowly, involuntarily, he reveals his most intimate thoughts, memories and nightmares to the woman because he feels that finally, someone is truly listening to what he says. Satyajit Ray, while sketching out a portrait of a very sensitive person who is playing the role of ‘hero’ with ever decreasing enthusiasm, is also pondering the purpose of film art.
