Introduction: Dorota Lekka, Head of International Department FINA National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute, Poland

Two family-run enterprises selling sports equipment are cutthroat rivals. Both companies specialize in tennis rackets but the champion can only play with the racket of one of them. The smaller shop is run by the winsome and determined young woman Jadzia while the elegant, fancy department store is the domain of the sporty and handsome Jan. As we knew all along, love comes out match winner in their rivalry. Jadwiga Smosarska, the biggest film star in pre-war Poland, plays the title role in this excellent comedy. Her on-screen persona is that of the wholesome girl-next-door combined with the ideal of the go-ahead, self-aware, modern woman.
