San Francisco authorities are alerted to the corpse of a man who has been brutally murdered and all the evidence leads back to writer Catherine Tramell. However, the police are baffled by the woman who only muddies the waters with her irresistible allure and ambiguous statements. Homicide detective Nick, who carries a troubled past, decides to get closer to the woman in order to solve the case, but the more he wants to take control the more evident it is that he is no longer pulling the strings. Basic Instinct made from the screenplay by Joe Eszterhas was the most iconic erotic thriller of the 1990s.
