Our guest for the screening will be Rafael Portela, Vice President of the Spanish Film Academy, with whom we will have an extended conversation in our café starting at 5:30 p.m. prior to the film. Our discussion partners will be András Lénárt, a Hispanist and film historian, and Zsófia Buglya, a film critic and program director at Uránia
Ainara, a brilliant and idealistic young woman, stands at a crossroads in her life: she must decide what university career to pursue, or at least, that’s what her family hopes. However, Ainara feels that her future might lie elsewhere.
As her friends begin to explore the joys and turmoils of adolescence - falling in love, going out, experimenting with new freedoms - Ainara feels increasingly torn between following a conventional path or embracing something entirely different. Deep within her, she feels a spark, an unexpected pull toward the contemplative life of the convent. A choice that will not come without unsettling the balance of the family.
