A middle-class family's fate becomes intertwined with their only son's enigmatic new friend in postone-child policy China, putting unspoken secrets, unmet expectations, and untended emotions under the microscope. The film had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival, and its European premiere at the Berlinale. Later that year, director Jianije Lin won Best Director at the Beijing International Film Festival.
