In her third feature film, and her first after her 2006 Berlinale breakout, Longing, German director Valeska Grisebach ‘subtly revisits the codes of the western by transposing them to the modern day in deepest Bulgaria, with a story about German construction workers’ – Cineuropa. ‘A sharp, simmering culture-clash drama from Germany.’ – Variety SYNOPSIS – A group of German workers sets o to a construction site in the border region between Bulgaria and Greece. This foreign land and its breath-taking landscape awaken the men’s sense of adventure, but they are also confronted with their own prejudice and mistrust due to the language barrier and cultural di erences. The stage is quickly set for a showdown when men begin to compete for recognition and favor from the local villagers.
