Introduction by István Kispéter, Researcher-Archivist, NFI – Film Archive

A small party gathers in the rural chateau of the Marchioness Langrune. Tensions are already high because of the raging storm and gossip about a mysterious villain when they chance upon a message: one of them is going to die during the night... Successful Hollywood silent film director Pál Fejős made the first Fantomas talkie on his return to Europe. In this version the dreaded black-attired, masked serial killer is ruthless, successful and, at least for a while, faceless.

Supporting film: My Little Town
Hungarian animation, colour, 2002, dir: Líviusz Gyulai, No dialogue, 7’
