Buster Keaton falls in love with Sally, a secretary at Metro's Goldwyn Mayer newsreel and signs on as a news cameraman to win her favour. His camera, his job, and his skilled colleague and rival lead him on a series of astonishing adventures that teach him to shoot film, he survives a riot, befriends a monkey and experiences the absurdity of being a filmmaker, finally ending up out of work. Keaton performs his breathtaking and absurd stunts himself, as in all of his films.
