The first feature film by Robbe De Hert released in 1973 is a defining work of the collective Fugitive Cinema and a milestone in Flemish political movies. Suckers to Suffer About in a Camera Sutra – combining elements of documentary and feature film, archive footage, news clips and a collage-like editing – examines the social and political atmosphere, the role of the media, consumer culture and the functioning of the establishment in Belgium of the 1970s. It is a groundbreaking, energetic and still relevant essay picture.
