world premiere of the film Carl Lutz - The Forgotten Hero

on Friday, June 20th, 2014 at 6pm

The screening is part of the project “Foreign Saviors in Hungary in 1944”, organized by the Embassies of the Holy See, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland in Hungary.

The film will be screened with English and Hungarian subtitles.

Short synopsis:

As a Swiss diplomat in Budapest during the 2nd World War, Carl Lutz saves tens of thousands of Jews from sure death. Lutz falls in love with one his rescuees, leaves his wife for her after the end of the war, and moves to Bern with his new love and her daughter. But instead of being welcomed home as a hero, Lutz is investigated for having exceeded his authority. Until his dying day, Lutz bitterly fights, in vain, to regain his reputation.
