A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare

Theatre performance from Shakespeare's Globe
27 December at 7pm

27 december 2014 19:00 - 22:00

Location: Díszterem

A hugely imaginative, crowd-pleasing production of Shakespeare's delightful comedy from the Globe's Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole. Hermia loves Lysander, but is betrothed to Demetrius. So the lovers flee into the magical woods. Here, a group of 'rude mechanicals' are rehearsing a poorly written play which they intend to perform at the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta. Meanwhile, a dispute between fairy king Oberon and queen Titania is about to unleash magic that will change the lives of everyone. Three stories intertwine deliciously in Shakespeare's most popular comedy. Dominic Dromgoole's hugely enjoyable production retains a conventional Elizabethan setting but is served with dazzling wit and invention. The result is a mischievous and playful delight, delivering all manner of comic confusion. Olivier Award-winner Michelle Terry was last seen at the Globe in Dromgoole's 2007 production of 'Love's Labour's Lost'. Leading a superb cast, she reunites with him to play the dual roles of Titania and Hippolyta.
