Before the screening, film historian Anna Geréb will give an introduction.

Sergei Eisenstein's 1938 Soviet historical epic, Alexander Nevsky, depicts the 13th-century Prince of Novgorod. When the German Teutonic Knights invade and massacre the city of Pskov, Nevsky unites the divided Russian peasantry and commoners to defend Novgorod, culminating in the decisive Battle on the Ice.
