This two-part documentary film retells the history of the Hungarian Academy of Rome over the past 100 years.
The first part describes the academy’s formation, the “golden age” between the wars, and the life of Hungarian scholars spent in one of Rome’s finest palaces: Palazzo Falconieri

The Hungarian Academy of Rome part 2.

This two-part documentary film retells the history of the Hungarian Academy of Rome over the past 100 years.
The second part uses eyewitness accounts and reports from agents for the State Security Services to show how this formally independent institution went on to become a centre of espionage during the communist era in Hungary before it regained its status in 1989 as a recognised centre of excellence for Hungarian art and science.

This documentary film presents the work of Charles de Tolnay – Károly Tolnay the renowned art historian, director of the Casa Buonarroti Museum in Florence, and a leading expert on the works of Michelangelo. The camera revisits the most important locations in his life spent in Italy. And as he speaks about his discoveries and work as a dedicated researcher, we see a number of works by Michelangelo including several that have never been seen on film before.
