A 8. BLOKK VETÍTÉSI PROGRAMJA

Imre Ámos, the Hungarian Chagall
writer-director: Petényi Katalin, director-producer: Kabay Barna

Ámos Imre, a magyar ChagallThis documentary film uses a rich mixture of the painter’s works, his diary entries and archive footage from the period to show how a deeply dedicated and lyrical soul such as his reacts to the ferocity of fascism with prophetic profundity. Much like Chagall, Ámos found form for his work in biblical myth. He used his paintings, sketches and diary as a warning. He battled on alone as one of the persecuted masses and suffered the terrible hardship of forced labour until he was eventually deported to Ohrdruf Concentration Camp from where he would never return.

Miracle in Milan and Rome - Zsuzsa Szőnyi and Mátyás Triznya
writer-director: Petényi Katalin, director-producer: Kabay Barna

Csoda Milanóban és Rómában - Szőnyi Zsuzsa és Triznya MátyásMátyás Triznya and Zsuzsa Szőnyi left communist Hungary in January 1949 to begin their life together in a free Europe. Having travelled all the way from the picturesque village of Zebegény, it proved hard to establish themselves in Rome but their home soon became known in Hungarian expatriate circles as the “Triznya Pub”. Zsuzsa’s letters to her parents back home, the unique visual world of the Cinecitta and the glorious city of Rome all help to tell the tale of their life together dedicated to fostering links between the cultures of Italy and Hungary.

Attracted to Italy - Róbert Csíkszentmihályi, sculptor
writer-director: Petényi Katalin, director-producer: Kabay Barna

Itália vonzásában - Csíkszentmihályi Róbert szobrászművészThis documentary film shows the life and work of one of Hungary’s leading sculptors of the 21st century and his artistic attachment to Italy. We see Róbert Csíkszentmihályi in Szentendre and also in Italy, and watch him as inert materials metamorphose under his skilled sculptor’s hand.
