Introduction: Vjeran Pavlinić, Director of Film Preservation, Croatian Cinematheque - Croatian State Archives

14 April 1957. In the middle of a thunderstorm, a bus and a truck collide on the Croatian motorway. Brilliantly ratcheting up the tension, the work introduces us to the passengers and right till the final moment we do not know which of them actually survived the accident. In 2020, Croatian film critics voted this early Eastern European forerunner of the disaster movie genre to be the best Croatian feature film of all time. The screenplay is based on a true event that received wide media coverage at the time. Eyewitnesses were only able to give the first two characters of the license plate of the vehicle causing the crash: H-8. The car and its owner were never identified.
